April 10, 2001 9:24: CHISLEHURST schoolgirls cleaned up at the Bromley Festival of Music and Speech.
Babington House School's Chamber Choir won the festival's Challenge Shield for coming first in the 15 and Under category.
The 15 girls aged between 10 and 15, sang two songs Alleluia by Montpellier Codex and Cy Coleman's Rhythm of Life. They were presented with the shield, which they keep for one year.
For the Twentieth Century Poem category, 12-year-old Bonnie Jackson beat off all the competition with her rendition of Walter de la Mare's The Listener. She won a gold medal and the Millennium Shield.
