Police have advised residents to ensure their homes are safely locked up when they leave during the day.

The warning follows an increase in the number of daytime break-ins in north Kent.

Sgt Rod Chapham said: There have been a handful of reports of break-ins to homes around the time parents dash out to pick their children up from school.

We advise residents to leave lights or a radio on to deter any burglars.

Residents are being asked to pay careful attention to their neighbours homes between 3pm and 4pm and report anything suspicious to their local police station.
