BUDDING architects, aged between five and 18, have been invited to enter the RIBA Isle of Wight Young Designers Competition.

Organisers have challenged young people on the Isle of Wight to create design ideas for the mid-Solent No Man's Land Fort, off Seaview. The winners in each age group will be taken on a tour of the fort.

"We are trying to promote an appreciation of the built environment, and what better place to start than the future generation? We are looking for creative, wacky, fun and inspiring designs from young people.

"Entrants can choose to make models, paintings or anything else they feel tells their design story," said a spokesman.

An awards ceremony will be held at the Royal Yacht Squadron, Cowes, on April 25, where the entries will be exhibited.

Entry forms and tickets to the awards are available from the Isle of Wight Society, by calling 280310 or emailing info@isleofwightsociety.org.uk

Can I submit my idea for a massive ramp on the side of the fort, so the hover can get some air when the captain gets bored?
