CHARLTON Athletic has teamed up with the Woolwich to create an Addicks saving account.

The high street bank hopes to corner the market with an account which will give the club a yearly cash-boost.

The Charlton Premier Savings Account is based on a Visa Electron debit card which fans can use to withdraw cash from any Woolwich, or Link ATM, and to pay for goods in shops.

The club gets an annual contribution to its funds based on the total average balances held during the year.

A spokesman for the bank said: "Charlton has a good strong following, so it's set to be a popular account.

"It doesn't matter where you are in the country. If you are a Charlton fan far away from home missing the club, or you live on the club's doorstep, it's ideal."

Charlton's business development manager Steve Dixon said: "The arrangement has a good deal of commercial benefit for the club, and is really good for our profile. To be linked with such a good, strong, local company can only be healthy for the club."
