THERE is a last chance for ornithologists to spot red kites in Ibstone before they head off for their breeding territories.

Kites roost communally in the winter and Ibstone is one of their favourite areas.

Red Kites in the Chilterns, a partnership project between the RSPB and the Chilterns Countryside Board, has organised two free walks where the beautiful birds can be seen.

Project officer Cathy Rose said: "Red Kites can be seen at Ibstone all year round but this may be your last chance this year to see them in really large numbers before they start to breed."

On Sunday February 17 Litmore Shaw Estate in Ibstone will be open to anyone wanting to join the walk, starting at 10am in the works yard.

On Saturday February 23 a second walk takes place on Ibstone Common. Meet at 10am opposite The Fox pub.

Booking is essential as the walks are very popular.
