After a month of surgery Tesco in Sentinel Square can reveal its facelift.

The Hendon shop was closed after it was felt look of the store, one of the chain's oldest, was too far removed from the new shops.

"It was partially in response to customer demand but it was looking, shall we say, a little bit used," said Helen Canovan, corporate affairs executive for Tesco.

The refit includes an increase in check-outs, a brand new bakery section and a completely altered shop front.

During the refurbishment a shuttle service was laid on taking customers to the Brent Cross branch.

"We tended to have quite a few people using it and are intending to keep it open, although it depends on how many people continue to use it," said Ms Canovan.

The store will be open to shoppers on Monday.
