Northwood House.
A WIDE-ranging consultation on how Northwood House, Cowes, will be run in future has been launched by the Charity Commission.
The consultation, which is set to run until June 4, has been unveiled by trustees of the Northwood House Charitable Trust, and includes powers for trustees to lease part or all of the existing buildings to raise funds to refurbish the building. However, the proposals rule out any change to the park other than its support and maintenance.
Meanwhile, members of Cowes Town Council hope they will be granted more time to respond to the consultation.
They are planning to stage a special meeting of the council so they can discuss the proposals in greater detail.
At a meeting of the town council last Thursday, Cllr Willie Sanderson said: "We would not be doing our duty if we did not give ourselves time to have a response.
"I can’t see any reason after all this time has passed to push the thing through quickly."
A copy of the proposals can be seen for the next month in Cowes Library and is also available at www.northwoodhouse.org or by appointment at Northwood House by ringing 01983 293642.
