*CONTROVERSIAL plans to convert the former Brading Experience Waxworks into an antique shop with two blocks of terraced homes on the same site are on hold after the council postponed its decision.
Conditional planning permission was granted in 2010 for a change of use for the former 'World of Wheels’ building to an auction room at the site.
However, objectors say that the additional plans will result in the loss of a commercial site in the town to residential use and traffic generated by the proposed development would have an adverse impact on road safety.
They also say that the Wax Museum or a similar attraction should be retained to support the local economy.
The application was recommended for conditional approval by planning officers and members were due to discuss it this tonight (Thursday), however the decision has been postponed due to administrative reasons.
