CHARITIES across the Isle of Wight are set to benefit from a £38,000 windfall raised by a customer loyalty card scheme run by Co-op stores.
Over the past six months, shops in Newport, Ryde, Ventnor, East Cowes, Shanklin and Sandown have raised money for good causes through the Co-op's new membership card scheme.
Through the initiative, one per cent of money spent by customers was collected, from the sale of Co-op branded products, which ultimately raised £37,922.
The charities that will benefit from the scheme include the IW Donkey Sanctuary, Sandown and Shanklin Independent Lifeboat, Aspire Ryde, East Cowes Scouts and Ability Dogs 4 Young People.
