A 35-year-old man died on Sunday after being found unconscious in a camper van at Bestival.

Police were called to the van, which was parked at one of the Isle of Wight event's campsites, at about 11:20pm on Saturday, according to a police spokesman.

The spokesman said: "The 35-year-old man from Kent was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious.

"Next-of-kin have been informed, but police will not be in a position to name the man in the media until all formal identification procedures are completed.

"A post-mortem examination to help establish the cause of death is due to take place later this week."

The Isle of Wight coroner has been notified and an inquest is expected to open this week.
