A centre for the terminally ill is celebrating its 11th anniversary this month.

St Luke's Hospice (Harrow and Brent) is holding a concert to celebrate its birthday on Sunday October 11 at Wealdstone Baptist Church.

Concert organiser, Philip Crome, is delighted Harrow School of Young Musicians is taking part. "We are looking forward to a most entertaining programme," he said.

The charity's day centre opened in Harrow View, Harrow, in 1987 and fundraisers are currently raising cash for the first residential care home for terminally ill people in Harrow and Brent, which is due to open in Kenton in May.

The 19th Century Manor House -- The Grange, in Kenton Road, is currently undergoing a £3million conversion to offer residential and day care services and an education centre and base for home visiting nurses.

Janet Wright, of the fundraising team, said they still have £650,000 to raise.

"We are holding a bid and bite charity auction with Bob Holness in November which should be a really enjoyable event," she said. Details of this will be available soon.

The concert starts at 3pm at the church next to Iceland.

Tickets are £3, £7 for a family group of two adults and two children. For prior booking, admission is £2.50 and £6 respectively. Ring 0181 863 3284.
