All the traditional summer fair activities were on offer at Borehamwood's Lyndhurst School on Saturday afternoon.
A beat-the-goalie competition, a smash-the-crockery stall, and wellie-wanging were among the fun events on offer at the Gateshead Road middle school from 12noon to 4pm.
Chairman of the school's Connexion Committee, alias the PTA, Elaine Edwards said she was very pleased that around £1,000 was raised.
The cash will go towards the fund for a new mini bus, she said, much-needed after the old one finally "died." The new bus should be in-service in time for the new school year in the autumn.
"It was a very good day considering the weather," she said. There was rain at the start of the fair and towards the end, giving the visitors a window of dry weather to enjoy the events.
There was also trampolining, hair colour-spraying, a book and a cake stall, a coconut shy, British School of Motoring dual-control cars in which the children could get behind the wheel and a Barbecue.
"It was a good turn out, and we will be doing another one next year," added Mrs Edwards.
