A WARNING has been issued by the Isle of Wight Council over a scam e-mail.
The council said its trading standards team had been made aware of an e-mail offering residents the opportunity to pay for fixed penalty notices via a website.
According to the council’s Facebook page, the e-mail claims to be from a legitimate company and asks people to send vehicle details and payment information to the e-mail address cctv.enforcement@penaltychargenotices.co.uk
"The e-mail is a scam and any fixed penalty notices issued by the council can only be paid at County Hall, at Newport or Ryde libraries or by using the council’s website at www.iwight.com
"If you receive this e-mail or any similar e-mail you should delete it immediately and never give out your personal details," the council said.
It urged anyone who wanted further information to contact trading standards on 01983 823370.

Chris, are you for real? The mail address has been provided so we, the vunerable public, know what to look out for. Judging by your odd rant I'll be waiting for your next whinge when you've logged on to their website and been scammed out of some money! I've come accross some whinging nimby's before but you must be at the top of the nimby pile with nothing at all to do but make dumb comments on genuine articles written to protect the likes of YOU who are dumb enough to give it a go!

I find it hard to understand why you are running this story about a scam, yet you are showing the fake address which provides a direct link to the scammers.
