BUSINESS HAVING enjoyed running a successful holiday let house in Cowes, Will and Fiona Headington set their sights high for their next project.
With the perfect secluded paddock to spare at their house on the edge of Wootton, the couple wanted to create something that blended in environmentally and that was also exciting and different to provide a memorable experience for guests.
A treehouse seemed the perfect solution.
It was built by Arreton-based Stem Design and Carpentry, which has plenty of experience of mainland tree houses, and is clad in local larch.
Fiona said: "The interior cladding and all the furniture was handmade by Will, using recycled wood, hazel from the woods, natural slate and pebbles.
"The stylish interior has a slight alpine feel, due to their skiing heritage, with cool green and cosy red Swedish fabrics, and little wooden heart cut-outs."
Built in two parts joined by decking, the sleeping-house sleeps up to six in two bedrooms, plus a little hayloft area.
There is a full bathroom with rainfall shower, while the living-house has a handcrafted wooden kitchen with all mod cons, dining area, sofa and a cosy log burner.
Will added: "Everything is very eco-friendly, from the special composting loo to the reedbed drainage system, and guests can truly feel at one with nature here.
"Our first guests, Mike and Tina Cox, wanted to come and stay somewhere special to celebrate their low-key private marriage at Newport Register Office and they and their two boys absolutely loved it."
The couple, from Sandhurst, said: "The treehouse has lived up to all expectations and has been a truly memorable experience.
"The setting, the design and beautiful interior are just stunning."
