Cow freed by firefighters

A VET was called to assess the condition of a dairy cow freed by Isle of Wight firefighters.

The cow became trapped against a wall in a milking parlour at Queen Bower Dairy near Apse Heath this evening (Friday), the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service said.

Firefighters from Shanklin, Sandown, Newport and Ryde, were called at 5.40pm and used specialist equipment to free the animal.

They spent over an hour at the scene.
