JUST weeks after announcing a 50 per cent increase in production and the creation of five jobs, an Island firm has laid off a fifth of its workforce.
Eight members of staff from a workforce of 42 have been made redundant at Cowes-based Romahome SVP.
Managing director, Brian Bailey, said the commercial side of the business was struggling.
He said: "I’m hopeful the market will pick up and the members of staff we’ve made redundant will be the first to be asked back.
"The leisure side of our business conversely is doing incredibly well with orders and sales up."
