AN EDMONTON man is suing computer games giant Sony for the distress caused to him after opening a letter telling him he needed immediate medical treatment following a scan.

The letter which contained X-rays and was marked Test Results was in fact a advertisement promoting a new Sony Playstation game. However, Mr Anthony Antoniou, 34, of Wellington Avenue, was at first taken in by the letter as he had been suffering from insomnia and headaches following a head injury he received 18 months ago.

His wife Penny said: ``Tony was really upset when he saw what was in the letter. Even when I explained to him it was an advert he just couldn't believe it and still thought there was something wrong with him. It certainly was a very sick joke which is why we are suing Playstation for the distress they caused.''

A number of similar complaints have been received by BBC's Watchdog consumer affairs programme. They highlighted the case of a woman suffering from a brain tumour who also received the documents through the post.
