COWES lifeboat crews braved the harsh winds of Storm Doris yesterday (Thursday) after an errant life ring was spotted in the water near Osborne Bay.
RNLI relief lifeboat, John and Louisa Fisher, was launched at 2.40pm following a call made from the large car carrier, Asian Breeze.
Dealing with force seven winds, eight in the open, lifeboat crews retrieved the life-ring but its origins remain unclear, there being no identification markings
Given the weather, there were very few vessels in the vicinity, and they were approached and eliminated as a possible source.
