Crash in Havenstreet

A CRASH involving a refuse lorry and a car has led to a call out for Isle of Wight emergency services this morning (Tuesday).

A fire and rescue spokesman said two fire engines were called to the scene, near to Lynn Farm on Combley Road, Havenstreet, at 9:58am. One person was said to be trapped and two ambulances were also been called to the scene.

At around 10.30am a fire and rescue spokesman said the road was closed.

A fire and rescue service spokesman said at around 11:35am that a man had been cut free from his vehicle and taken to St Mary's Hospital by ambulance.

A female received treatment at the scene from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service.

*Combley Road has re-opened.
