TWO people killed in a crash involving a motorcycle and a car in Wootton on Tuesday night have been named by police.
The rider of the white Yamaha R6 motorcycle, 20 year old Danny Hayward, of Cross Lane, Newport, sustained fatal injuries and died at the scene.
The driver of the light blue Toyota Rav 4 car, Leon Richards, 46, of Wootton Bridge, was fatally injured in the crash and died six hours later at St Mary’s Hospital.
*The motorcycle pillion passenger, Dan Bronwin, 18, of Newport, was thrown from the bike and sustained serious, but not life-threatening injuries, including a broken leg and was taken to St Mary’s Hospital, Newport.
He remained in hospital today (Thursday).
The incident happened shortly after 11pm at the junction of Park Road and Lushington Hill, near the Racecourse Roundabout.
The road was closed for more than six hours while investigations were carried out.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone who saw either vehicle just prior to it.
