Crowds enjoy carnival

Olympic torchbearer, Christina Loosemore and her brother James.

HUGE crowds lined the streets of Sandown on Saturday for the town's main carnival procession.

Olympic torchbearer, Christina Loosemore, her brother James, and Eden Crumplin, who carried the torch in Lymington, led the procession around the town.

Mas Fusion provided an Olympic theme, while other entries included Wight Strollers, as Try Me Airlines, Shanklin Voluntary Youth and Community Centre, as Batman's Jubilee Party and 3rd Ventnor Scouts as Hogwarts.

The parade began with the national anthem, performed by the Wight Diamonds Marching Band.

See the Isle of Wight County Press, on Friday, August 3, for full report and pictures.
