CHILDREN from an Isle of Wight cookery school will be taking part in the Gunwharf Quays Closer to Food Cookery festival tomorrow (Sunday).
Older children from the Four Seasons Cookery Academy will be cooking one of their favourite dishes, turkey chow mein, followed by a cookery demonstration by the academy’s founder Michele Newton.
The demonstration will be aimed at helping people with diabetes or high cholesterol and Michele will then take part in a question and answer session.
Michele said: "Children have such enthusiasm and motivation and aren’t scared of trying anything. They have no preconceptions that a dish won’t work out because they have such open minds and absorb the information like sponges.
"It is important to me that I inspire them and I always encourage them to try new dishes with different ingredients and not to be slaves to recipes. It’s all about having the flair and confidence to try new things."
The children will be taking part in the food festival from 12.30pm, following a session with celebrated chef Jean Christophe Novelli.
