A TALENTED teenage musician hopes to follow in his father’s footsteps, after a song he remixed was chosen for a film.
Curtis Mitchell, 16, of Meadows Way, Yaverland, created a Dubstep remix of a song, Time Zone, written by two Island artists, which has been chosen to feature in the film The Man Inside.
Platform One student Curtis spent a week mixing the track from his home, with the help of his brother, Reid, 19, who is also a music producer.
Curtis, whose father, Grant, 49, is a professional record producer, said he originally mixed the track for fun.
Curtis said: "I didn’t make a big deal out of it but I thought there was no harm in sending it to be auditioned for the film.
"I was so surprised when it got chosen, I’m really pleased."
With the help and advice of his father, who produced the Bob the Builder track, which was Christmas number one in 2001, Curtis started producing music, aged 13.
Curtis said: "I took an interest in dad’s work but it took me some time to understand it. But I love it now and I hope this leads to more opportunities for me."
The film, a thriller starring Peter Mullen, Michelle Ryan and Mike Tyson, centres around a young boxer, who tries to distance himself from his father’s gangster past.
Curtis, who will attend the film’s UK premiere and visit the set, is hoping his music features on the film’s official soundtrack.
