Cyclist hurt in accident

A CYCLIST was treated for serious injuries following a collision in Newport.
Police and paramedics were called to Fairlee Road, shortly after 10.30am on Wednesday, after the cyclist, a 52-year-old woman from Ryde, was involved in a collision with a Honda Jazz car.
She was travelling north on Fairlee Road when the collision happened, near the junction with North Fairlee Farm.
She was admitted to St Mary’s Hospital and her condition was yesterday (Thursday) described as comfortable.
The car driver was a 48-year-old woman from Newport.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident and anyone with information can call the IW roads policing unit at Shanklin police station on 101 or 0845 045 45 45, or the Crimestoppers charity on 0800 555 111.
