A DAMNING report into child protection services on the Isle of Wight is to be discussed by a council scutiny panel.
The Isle of Wight Council children and young people scrutiny panel is to discuss the Ofsted report, issued earlier this month, which branded child protection services on the Island as inadequate.
The report led opposition councillor Geoff Lumley to call for chairman of the scrutiny panel Cllr George Cameron to resign.
Cllr Cameron is due to chair the scrutiny panel's meeting on Tuesday, next week.

Mrs James - real scrutiny lead by opposition councillors (of any brand) with two ordinary residents co-opted used to work. That's why the Council Leader got rid of it back in 2007....

'Nothing to see here - move on' - that will be the full extent of this council's scrutiny. They already blamed the front line staff instead of managers, councillor's and weak systems. The real test will be May 3rd.

This is going to be good, we will now get an insight how the Council looks after its self in the blame game, and we will see who gets hung out to dry to save there own necks. If the Council had the right people who knew what they were doing ie; what the job entails and and how to do it, then this Damning Report would not have happened, of course there will be one or two mistake,s no one,s perfect. But it seem,s this Council and Cllr,s seem to think they are the best thing since slice bread. well i,ve got some news for them and its all bad.

Any Scrutiny Reports should be undertaken by a totallu Independent Body... How can the IWCouncil Scrutinise itself...???
