An organisation which co-ordinates work experience is extending its services to help refugee students.

The Brent and Harrow Work Experience Consortium, which is supported by 2,400 employers in the two boroughs, has issued new guidelines for taking on refugee students.

Supporting Refugee Students in Work Experience recommends employers take into account that refugee students' may have difficulties in dealing with unfamiliar situations and reminds them that "cultural dress does not reflect competency".

The organisation is also looking for new employers who can help give a minimum of two weeks' work experience to local students.
