GALE force winds have caused a day of disruption for cross-Solent travellers today (Friday).

Since early this morning Red Funnel, Wightlink and Hovertravel have experienced problems because of adverse weather conditions.

Hovertravel resumed normal service by 7.20pm, while Wightlink said it was due to resume a normal service on its Yarmouth to Lymington route at 8.15pm.

Wightlink's Fastcat service was operating as normal at 7.30pm, however there were some delays on its Fishbourne to Portsmouth service according to the company.

Long traffic queues around the Fishbourne area have been reported.

Red Funnel said its Red Jet service was due to resume from Southampton at 8.45pm and from Cowes at 9.15pm.
There were 20 minute delays on its East Cowes to Southampton service.
