Delays to service

UPDATED 13:05*

WIGHTLINK'S Fishbourne to Portsmouth car ferry service is experiencing delays today (Friday) .

*The company has cancelled the 1.30pm sailing from Portsmouth and the 2.30pm crossing from Fishbourne.

A Wightlink spokeswoman said: "Due to very high volumes of traffic at Fishbourne, coupled with the delay to service there are long queues into the terminal, therefore we are regrettably not allowing any customers without a booking into the terminal or taking standby traffic.

"Any customers without a booking are advised to postpone their journey until later this evening. Passengers are still advised to check-in on time for their sailing."

Passengers concerned about their crossing can call 0871 376 1000.

According to the company's website the delays were caused by an earlier operational problem at their Portsmouth Gunwharf Terminal, engine problems on St Cecilia and the adverse weather conditions.

Wightlink is running a two-shuttle service on its Yarmouth to Lymington route and currently not accepting vehicles without a booking.

Good old Wightlink, even if you have a booking they will find a reason to over charge you to get to the island. I know this is not about cancelled ferries. but I recently travelled from the Island and coming back WL told me I had the wrong ticket and charge me 3 times more to get home. They have come up with some classic reason not to pay it back. And the last reason was because I lived on the Island great thanks Never travelling wightlink every again.
