Hale End 5 Old Woodhousians 2

(Southern Olympian League Senior div one)

A MICHAEL HARRIS hat-trick helped Hale End close in on their first ever Southern Olympian League title on Saturday

Harris' goals came in a comprehensive 5-2 win over Old Woodhousians at Wadham Lodge.

End have never won the Senior one title in over 70 years in the competition and only second placed HAC can deny them now.

HAC, five points adrift, have three games in hand but with the League operating a two points per win system, they need to win them all to take the title.

Woodhousians took the lead after only six minutes at Wadham Lodge but Martin Treadway levelled to settle End's nerves on 35 minutes.

Another goal followed from Harris and Treadway added a third before half-time.

The win was wrapped up just two minutes into the second half when Harris smashed home number four from Ian Horton's cross.

Woodhousians pulled one goal back from the penalty spot but with two minutes left Harris struck again to complete his hat-trick.

Hale End play host to Old Grammarians in their last game of the season at Wadham Lodge on Saturday. Kick-off is at 3.00pm.
