A REVOLUTION in adult learning has been officially launched at Lewisham College.
Linklearn is the new name for the college's adult centre and it aims to bring learning opportunities to people across the borough.
It is supported by Millwall FC and Lewisham Refugee Network, and aims to increase adult learning. In the past few months pilot courses have involved aspiring playwrights studying creative writing at a Deptford pub, elderly people at reminiscence sessions at a church and refugees receiving English classes. There are also courses in numeracy and literacy.
Principal Ruth Silver said: “We've been very successful in attracting students to Lewisham College but we know there are still many who are hesitant or unsure about learning.
“So we decided to take learning to them and now you can find LinkLearn courses at leisure centres, tenants' halls, beauty salons, superstores, libraries and pubs.”
