Riverside Hibernian 2 Suffolk Youth 2

Bushey Friendly League

Green Division Championship Play off

A night of tears for Suffolk, as they were just five minutes away from winning the title.

But that draw with Borehamwood Youth a few weeks ago proved so costly.

Riverside took the game to Suffolk and they had to work hard to contain them, but the spoils were even at half time.

Suffolk now had the wind and the slope, they now started to dominate the game, but a hiccup at the back let the on-form Hibs striker in 1-0 to Riverside.

Suffolk rolled up their sleeves and laid siege to the Riverside goal. Jack Regan was Suffolk's inspiration as he covered every blade of grass on the pitch. Within minutes Adam Cook equalised with a 20-yard drive for his first goal of the season. That gave Suffolk the platform they needed to get the big guns blazing and four minutes later Ryan Goodman hit his 15th goal in eight games.

It looked all over for Riverside as Suffolk looked for the killer blow. But with five minutes to go a defensive mix up let the Riverside striker in for his second. Suffolk fought back and Steve Mayers just knocked the ball over with seconds to go. Riverside were the champions as the whistle blew.

Manager Sonny Driver said that you could never believe you could stay unbeaten since October and still not win the league.

SUFFOLK: Wells, Cook, Goward, Nassau, Irvine, K Regan, Nicoll, Horn, J Regan, Goodman, Mayers, Driver, Ballard, Rowland, Bishop, O'Conner, Eddon, Makowski, Marshallsay, Sapsford.
