DISGRACED Brading Town councillor, Tony Toogood, has quit as a member of the authority after admitting two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.
As previously reported, Toogood and his estranged wife were banned from keeping dogs for life after their two neglected terriers, Daisy and Minnie, developed painful skin sores and infections from hair so heavily matted they could not see through it.
Tony Toogood, 67, admitted two charges of causing unnecessary suffering and his estranged wife, Kaye Toogood, 56 admitted one count, at Isle of Wight Magistrates Court.
Speaking to the Isle of Wight County Press this week, former Cllr Toogood confirmed he had resigned from the authority.
He said: "I resigned because of the code of conduct. I did not want to bring the council into disrepute. I did not really want to. I was asked. It is the proper way to do it."
