ONE set of twins in a class can be confusing enough, so spare a thought for Gay Grieve, a swimming instructor who is helping five sets of twins learn to swim.
Gay, 53, teaches swimming at the West Wight Sports Centre and, after checking through her enrolment list for her classes, realised she had an extraordinary ten twins learning to swim.
If that was not strange enough, Gay herself is a twin.
"I occasionally get to teach twins, but often they are of a different ability so they are split into different groups.
"I’ve never known so many twins learning to swim all at the same time and for them to be in my groups is quite incredible," said Gay.
She could soon find herself teaching more twins, according to mum Kizzy Cowley.
She already sends her sons Max and Moses, three, to classes with Gay and next year they will be joined by her twin daughters Florence and Matilda, aged 15 months.
"I’ve been talking to my sister Samantha and she is thinking of sending her three-year-old twins along, Charlie and Lillie, as well.
"The children all really enjoy it there," said Mrs Cowely, 33, of Holmfield Avenue, Thorley.
