Giving riders confidence to get back on their bikes is the aim of an event at the Harrow Driving and Road Safety Centre on June 4.

Cyclists will be able to use the driving centreÍs traffic free ñroadî, to receive expert advice on the safest way and most comfortable to ride.

ñThe objective of this day is to encourage people who used to cycle to come along and regain their confidence on a road layout that is traffic free,î said Alan Blann of Harrow Agenda 21Ís transport and air quality control action group which is organising the event.

ñThere will be a number of life-long cyclists on hand to advise on such things as saddle and handlebar height etc, so that the cycle is set up in the optimum position for the safe and efficient means of riding.î

Staff from The Bike Shop in Pinner Road, North Harrow, will be on hand to offer a free safety check and advice and security marking of bikes will also be available.

There will also be three cycles available for people without bikes at the centre in Christchurch Avenue, Wealdstone, from 11am to 3pm.

ñWe hope as many people as possible will come along to this event and go away feeling confident that they can get back on their bike and, initially, leave the car at home for those short trips,î said Mr Blann.
