Wandsworth's Arndale Centre has been given a pat on the back for its health and safety procedures.

Consultant National Britannia Health and Safety Ltd has carried out a thorough audit to ensure the shopping centre is complying with the Health and Safety At Work Act 1974 and has issued a certificate of competence.

Deputy centre director Peter Richardson said: "We are proud of achieving the award. It proves our staff, by their efforts, are providing a safe and secure environment for the public.

"All staff have been trained in risk assessment and hazard spotting so that any potential risks, such as trip hazards, can be dealt with quickly and effectively."
