AN Isle of Wight village is the second worst place in the country for blocked drains, according to specialists Dyno-Rod.
The figures are based on numbers of blocked drains per 1,000 households per year.
Bembridge had 880 blocked drains in the last year, which equates to 49 per cent of the population of the village, according to Dyno-Rod.
Nationally two million drains across the UK become blocked every year and among the most unusual objects found down the drains are a Second World War rifle bullet, a puppy, a speedometer from a Ford Anglia, a diamond, false teeth and even a fence panel.

Once again its a resounding 'well done!' to IW Council for allowing such meaty waste to rot on our streets. I demand a General Strike until the council provides bigger drains, capable of receiving racks of lamb or other rack-of-lamb sized objects. It's the only way to get this putrid waste off our streets.

I've been looking for that speedo everywhere - can I have it back please? Only thing is I now seem to have lost the rest of my Ford Anglia, so if anyone spots my car in their drains would they let me know? You'll know its mine because it hasn't got a speedo.

It's probably all stuff that fell in the potholes? One word of advice, always ask for hourly rates when contacting drains experts. My friend got a £300 bill for a couple of hours on a Sunday. Ouch.

Doing well today, worst for roads, second worst for drain blockages with fence panels. Teenage pregnancy figures not available yet obviously.

Hmmm, you say "the most unusual objects found down the drains are a Second World War rifle bullet, a puppy, a speedometer from a Ford Anglia, a diamond, false teeth and even a fence panel" I think some peoples diet lack essential vitamins.
