A DRIVER has been charged with causing the death of a ten-year old girl, by driving without due care and attention while under the influence of alcohol.
Robert Blakely, 31, of Broadway, Sandown, has been charged, following a car crash that claimed the life of Evey Staley last year.
Evey suffered life-threatening injuries in the crash, which happened on August 24, on the main Newport to Cowes road, and was taken to Southampton General Hospital, where she died.
Her parents, Neal and Penny Staley, suffered serious injuries in the crash, when their Subaru Justy was involved in a collision with Mr Blakely's Ford Puma at around 8.30pm. They were taken to St Mary's Hospital.
Mr Blakely, who was also taken to hospital following the crash, will appear before Island magistrates on April 2.
