FEET were tapping at the West End Hall last Saturday when members of Pensioners Voice were entertained by the 15-member strong Marlow branch of the WI, wearing attractive costumes and colourful bonnets. They received rapturous applause from an appreciative audience. The afternoon started with the AGM where the officers were elected and the branch committee. Members were saddened to hear that Ted and Muriel Messenger from Hazlemere had been forced, through ill health, to stand down from the committee after around 15 years' or more service. It was agreed that a letter of thanks and flowers be sent to them as a thank you. To book the WI ladies, ring 01628 485280 and ask for Lilly Emerson.

SHOUTS of encouragement could be heard almost as far as Loudwater when a large audience of race-goers gathered at the Irish Club, Birdcage Walk, last Friday night. The race night was very well supported, and money raised was in aid of The Thames Valley and Chiltern Ambulance, and The Mayor's Appeal (Kids into Sport). The sponsors were Tescos (Newlands), Councillor Paul Lambourne, Cllr Miss S Marshall, and Mathews Estate Agents. The Irish Club allowed their premises to be used free. Paul Goodman MP was present.

THE February meeting of the Probus Club saw 42 members intrigued by a very competent and interesting talk given by Michael Juden and supported by Peter Cumberworth on Financial Planning, which evoked a wide ranging discussion. Membership inquiries from Bill Nugent on 01494 813217.

MISS Joan Stevens informs me that in April of this year she will have been fundraising for the Wycombe Hospital Intensive Care Unit for ten years. Her next tombola and gift stall (No 24) will be held in the hospital foyer at 9.30am to 2.30pm on Wednesday, March 20. If you have any items for Joan please telephone her on 01494 439576. Her appeal now stands at £23,000. Her next project is a portable monitor for the Intensive Care Unit.
