Wednesday, March 17, 2010

THREE people were arrested for suspected drugs offences by police using sniffer dogs on Friday.

Police said the Ryde Pier arrests were made possible through the co-operation of Solent ferry operators Wightlink and Hovertravel.

A 26-year-old London man, a 20-year-old man, from Ryde, and a 17-year-old youth, from London, were arrested on suspicion of possessing and supplying cannabis.

All three were bailed until various dates in May pending further inquiries.

The latest arrests form part of Operation Sheridan, which aims to detect and disrupt supplies of illegal drugs to the Island at ferry ports.
