A DRUNK girl sparked a call out for Cowes RNLI at the weekend.

The lifeboat crew, along with other police and ambulance, were called out late on Friday night.

A spokesman for the rescue organisation said: "The girl, believed to be 13, was reported to be among trees east of the remains of East Cowes Castle, apparently having wandered off from a barbecue.

"Paramedics, police and coastguards found her in a semi-conscious state.

"But because of the difficult terrain it was decided the best course was to evacuate her by lifeboat."

The girl had to be carried down the bank, across the beach and put on to the lifeboat on a stretcher.

A paramedic and a police officer travelled on board and the boat was met by an ambulance, which took her to St Mary's Hospital.
