RM - the leading supplier of ICT to UK education - has awarded Foulds School, High Barnet, Herts the RM Learning Alive School Website of the Week.

The school's site is featured on RM's Learning Alive site, which is used by thousands of UK schools.

Learning Alive, RM's innovative service for schools, provides educational users, including primary schools, secondary schools, LEAs, home users and special schools, with a unique range of educational resources, invaluable for cross-curricular use of the Internet.

The service also provides the facility for schools to create their own web site using Learning Alive as the host.

One of the most popular parts of the Learning Alive site, School Website of the Week, has been established to provide schools with examples of best practice in website design and to support the hard work put into websites by UK schools.

This award also recognises the use of good content and clear

design in a school website and the imaginative use of web technology by pupils and teachers.

The Learning Alive Website of the Week is chosen every week during term time from a possible 35,000 UK schools. The judges assess content, design and imaginative use of web technology by pupils and teachers and also the site's benefit to the school community as a whole.

The judges felt this week's winner, Foulds School's website -

www.foulds.barnet.sch.uk - an excellent website, full of information about Foulds School, its past history and current activities.

Created by co-ordinator Helen Browett and maintained by a web team of four to six children in years 4 and 5, Foulds School set up their website with the aim of extending the 'community of learning' to the local community of people, services and businesses, and even beyond, to link the pupils with children everywhere.

The site's main highlight is the section created by the pupils, the

Children's Pages.

The pages, images and links are all designed and made by the web team and the pupils have worked hard to ensure the content is fun-packed. Here you will find pages on Crazes and Hobbies, Fun Games and a Maths Quiz.

Other highlights include the Book Review section where children review their favourite books, and a Special Events section.

Congratulations go to Foulds School for what the judges described as 'an energetic and entertaining site'.

Top School Website of the Week winners from 2002 so far include Boston Spa Comprehensive School, West Yorks and Catherine Wayte Primary School, Swindon.
