SOCIAL workers in Kent are leading the way by helping a national organisation lay down standards for social services.
Members of a national training organisation for social care TOPSS England met 30 Kent County Council (KCC) social workers to discuss national standards and get feedback from them.
Their feedback will be used to create the new Social Qualification for 2003 which will make sure social workers across the country work to the same set of standards.
KCC social services training manager Frank Nichols has now been chosen to sit on the national steering group to develop the new standards for social services.
He said: “It is a real honour to be involved in the setting of these new standards.
“And staff in Kent were delighted to take part and share their good work, commitment and innovative practices with the national team.”
