UPDATED THURSDAY 13:34*
THE founder of Ecoisland CIC, who was arrested last week in the wake of the Isle of Wight community interest company’s collapse, has been found dead.
The body of David Green, 52, was found at his home in Woodvale Road, Gurnard, on Monday.
The death is not being treated as suspicious.
It followed the decision last week to place Ecoisland Partnership Community Interest Company in voluntary liquidation.
Just days later it was revealed that around £115,000 of government Green Deal funding paid to Ecoisland by the Isle of Wight Council was unaccounted for and the council had informed the police.
Mr Green was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of fraud and released on police bail the following day.
A Hampshire Constabulary spokesman said: "A post-mortem examination will take place in due course.
"HM Coroner has been informed."
The spokesman said later that the death had been referred to to the Independent Police Complaints Commission, by Hampshire Constabulary's Professional Standards Department.
The spokesman said the referral was mandatory in such cases.
*An inquest was opened today (Thursday) and adjouned until March 4.
The cause of death was hanging, the hearing was told.
