THREE lifeboats were called to Binnel Bay after a small boat was abandoned on the rocks.

The coastguard was called at 9.40am on Saturday, and Ventnor Coastguard Rescue Team, Bembridge RNLI All Weather Lifeboat and Freshwater Inshore Rescue Boat rushed to the scene.

The coastguard confirmed no lives were at risk and the vessel had been abandoned.

Failing to report the recovery of a wreck is a criminal offence, and the coastguard's counter pollution team and wreck receiver team have been notified of the incident, a coastguard spokesperson said.

If anyone found anything on the vessel or removed any items, they should contact the coastguard.
