FIREFIGHTERS were called to remove a seat from a bus to enable paramedics to aid a passenger who injured his back in a fall on a Southern Vectis double decker yesterday (Sunday).
The 23-year-old passenger fell shortly before 1am and the driver stopped the bus at the Racecourse Roundabout at Whippingham. There were several other passengers on board.
An Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We were called at 1am on Sunday to a report of a passenger having received a spinal injury. We were there at 1.10am.
"Firefighters removed the seat to enable paramedics to safely remove the man and we left the scene at 1.46am."
He was taken by ambulance for treatment at St Mary’s Hospital.
