WORLD Cup fever may have started, but not for some football fans, who are banned from travelling to Brazil.

Police have comfirmed that 52 football banning orders are in force in Hampshire and the Isle of Wight, which prevent people from travelling to foreign fixtures.

A spokesman said: "There have been four arrests for breaches in relation to the World Cup, and we're still seeking one person for failing to hand in their passport."

A further breakdown of the figures was not available, according to police.

At least two avid football fans from the Isle of Wight have begun their South American adventure however.

Ryde Golf Club members Tim Ashwell and Matt Bartlett are due to arrive in Brazil in time for England's crunch tie against Uruguay on Thursday.

Before jetting off, Matt told the County Press: "We're hoping to seeing some good England performances."
