A NEW recycling scheme is coming to Gravesham this autumn.

The council is introducing a "blue bag" collection service in which paper, aluminium and other recyclable objects are put in blue bags.

The council has set aside £50,000 for the scheme which will replace the kerb-side paper collection service.

Council leader Councillor Rosemary Leadley said the new service will enable residents to take recycling more seriously.

She said: "This is a central Government initiative which all councils are expected to carry out.

"It will be so much easier. All residents have to do is fill a blue bag put it outside with other rubbish for collection."
