A RETIRED detective, responsible for investigating murders, shootings and armed robberies, will talk about his career at a charity event.

Former Det Supt Bob Bridgestock moved to the Island with his wife, Carol, after serving with the West Yorkshire Police for 30 years.

After turning his hand to crime fiction, he will now be the guest speaker at a charity night in aid of IW Council chairman Cllr Arthur Taylor’s chosen charities, the Earl Mountbatten Hospice and Haylands Farm.

Tickets for the event, at Shanklin Conservative Club, on Thursday, are available from the council’s events team.
