THE chance to explore the rich marine and prehistoric worlds of Sandown Bay is on offer this weekend.
Join the Bay Coastal Community Team, Dinosaur Isle, Bournemouth University, Isle of Wight Zoo, Isle of Wight Natural History Society and many other organisations and groups for a fascinating weekend full of scientific discovery, with free family walks, talks and drop-in labs for everyone to participate in.
The weekend’s events, called Discovery Bay and run by Arc Consulting, Sandown, is a celebration of British Science Week, starting with The Marine World, in Shanklin on Saturday, March 11.
Shanklin and Sandown Rowing Club will be hosting an open laboratory between noon and 2.30pm, with a discovery walk to Horse Ledge, from the rowing club, to follow, at 3pm until 5.30pm.
Dinosaur Isle in Sandown will be hosting an open laboratory for the event, The Prehistoric World, in Sandown, on Sunday, March 12.
A discovery walk to Red Cliff, Yaverland, will follow at 3pm and run until 5.30pm. Meet at the Education Room, at Dinosaur Isle, for the walk.
There is no need to book a place on any of the events. Wellies or waterproof shoes are advisable.
