AN EXPORT seminar to help small and medium-sized businesses on the Isle of Wight has been organised by MP Andrew Turner.

The event will be held at the Riverside Centre on Friday, October 12, and is aimed at businesses that want to start exporting, or increase their share in the market, Mr Turner said in a statement yesterday (Tuesday).

There will be information about where to get further help, tailored to their needs, he said.

The Isle of Wight Chamber of Commerce, the Solent Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP) and United Kingdom Trade and Investment (UKTI) are all due to give presentations.

Mr Turner said: "There are many excellent companies on the Island in the small to medium sized category. I’m sure some of them feel that there may be export opportunities that could benefit them. However, it can be quite daunting knowing where to start or, if you are already exporting, how to move into other markets.

"There is actually quite a lot of help available from UKTI and other sources and, in fact, over the years I’ve heard many positive stories about the help that UKTI have given to local businesses.

"Many companies have invested heavily in developing first class products that may have a much larger potential market than just the UK.

"I would urge Island companies to come along and talk to the professionals as well as other local businesses and learn more about the benefits of doing business overseas."

To book a place at the event, which will run from 8:30am to midday, or for further information email mail@islandmp.com
